With a history of continuous occupation dating back to the Paleolithic, the city of Matera is one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the world. Known for its ancient habitations literally set in stone, sassi and for its rupestrian churches, Matera is a symbol and representation of human life that enriches humanity.
Tuff stone, or tufo, made from actual rock that the majority of Matera is founded on, was used to create different types of objects for local use including rosettes, utilized as ventilation grills.
Alina pays homage to one of the last remaining fragments of Matera's traditions and artisanal knowledge. Playing with scale and stratification, Alina wants to be an innovative imprint on our spaces that preserves tradition, even in small details.
